PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
My professional development focuses on building strong schools and strong kids. Kids perform better when they feel safe and don’t feel threatened. Successful teachers can accomplish even more when put into an environment where everyone supports each other and kids strive to be excellent. I have visited thousands of schools. I have seen some really great things but some schools stand out significantly from the rest. I want to share what and how these schools do so well. These schools achieve great test scores and have an atmosphere that makes it a pleasure to be in their school. How we create the same environment of success at your school is truly the theme of my presentation. When we do, your teachers will be able to realize their potential and the kids will realize theirs.
I will explain how to define "Success" in a manner that students at all levels feel capable of accomplishment and strive to be their best. I’ll show how to set "Goals" and make "Plans" that lift kids to the next level of success. You’ll learn how to "Brand" your school in a way that kids behave in a manner you have only dreamed about. Even troubled kids are elevated to a sense of self worth that they truly want to behave in a positive manner. I will share the art of "Selling" kids self-worth, academic accomplishment and their future in a way that you truly influence their effort in the present.
All this information is supported with stories and examples that I have witnessed while visiting over 3,000 schools. The audience will also participate in some activities and team building exercises to help energize your staff to truly incorporate these principles into their classroom.
It is my goal to work with the school district or school to incorporate the messages that are important to them. Below is a list of additional themes that can be included into my presentation:
- 21st Century Skills -- how do these new skills affect your school and how can you incorporate them into your curriculum?
- The New "Movement" in Reading -- how does movement help reading and achievement and how can you incorporate a movement program into your school?
- Relationship Building -- how do you bond with kids so they want to do their best? Truly touching kids hearts before trying to teach the brain.
- Bullying -- how do we stop kids from belittling others whether in person or over the Internet? How do we build a safe environment and eliminate school violence?
The program is designed to meet your school needs. I truly understand that your school needs aren’t the same as other schools. Some schools may want me in a suit and tie teaching these important techniques. Another school may want a more upbeat interactive presentation with basketball tricks. It is my desire to design my presentation to meet the goals of your professional development day.
The cost for up to a two-hour presentation within a 250-mile radius of Toledo, Ohio is $850. If you are further than 250-miles, an additional mileage and hotel fee is charged.
